Meet Gerilyn Feustel...

Gerilyn Feustel began the study of art in the late 50's when her husband's military career took them to Japan. Earlier, one of Japan's leading artists fled to Paris to avoid being conscripted into the Japanese Army. In Paris he studied with the new impressionists. After the war he returned to Japan where at a later date Geri had the good fortune of studying with him, and impressionism took root. Years later, Geri's husband was transferred to Rome and during their three year stay, Geri attended classes at the Scoula Della Romana where impressionism was uppermost.

Geri and her husband retired by the Snake River in the Hagerman Valley in southern Idaho. While their home was being constructed and surrounded by the beauty of the environment, she started painting the portraits of the local flora and fauna. At that time, Luther and Betsy Douglas who were well known operators of the America House, located in the Sun Valley Lodge happened to see one of Geri's animal paintings and suggested that they might show it. That was the beginning of Geri's professional work. She stayed with the America House until Luther died and Betsy moved into Documentary Film. While there, Geri painted in acrylic depicting the wildlife of the area and sold to many of the celebrities visiting Sun Valley, Idaho. Soon after leaving the America House she developed an art gallery and started teaching art.

Now working in 5 media and diverse subject matter, Geri is enthralled with the ancient art of Greece called Encaustic and has had several workshops in that process.

Her paintings have been hung in the original Ambercrombie and Fitch of New York and have been sold world wide and collected by several of the leading entertainers and astronauts.

Geri has traveled to may foreign locales taking workshops with various instructors and enjoying the diversity of the various art scenes.

Recently moving to Boise, Idaho, she is looking forward to the emerging art scene and to being a part of it.
